State work is any road that is owned, operated, and maintained by the state of West Virginia Department of Highways (WVDOH). Asphalt mix designs for state work vary depending on the area and the job. Each design must meet the specifications listed by the WVDOH.
Federal Projects use funding from the Federal Government to perform jobs on state roads. These jobs are often overseen by Federal Inspectors, and mix designs must meet the Federal regulations.
The West Virginia Department of Highways awards jobs based on a low bid price, which means the lowest bid is awarded the work. It is a fair and balanced system in which we are proud to be involved.
